The main objective of the workshop is to give participants a holistic understanding of the complex nature of food and nutrition security, to identify the nature of the problem and ways of measuring it, to consider the policy options available to combat food insecurity and to develop means of communicating such information effectively to decision makers. Participants shall look at food security from the points of view of related disciplines, the framework conditions for food and nutrition security and the various instruments at hand for analyzing and combating hunger and malnutrition. They shall consider ways of presenting and communicating their analysis to policy makers and develop specific tools for doing so.
