  • 　　IAH is an international organisation for scientists, engineers, water managers and other professionals working in the fields of groundwater resource planning, management and protection. It was founded in 1956 and has grown, with the increasing social and environmental importance of groundwater, to a membership of more than 3800 members in more than 135 countries.

    • 　　La Asociación Internacional de Hidrogeólogos (AIH) es la primera organización de ámbito internacional para todos los profesionales que trabajan en el campo de la protección, gestión y planificación del agua subterránea. La organización fue fundada en 1956 y hoy en día reúne a más de 3700 afiliados de 135 países. 　　Los fines de la AIH son el intercambio de conocimientos, y la promoción de actividades en el ámbito de la Hidrogeología. Para ello, organiza Jornadas, Congresos y Reuniones, edita monografías científico-técnicas y la revista Internacional Hydrogeology Journal. 　　Los objetivos fundamentales del Grupo Espa?ol de la AIH son: 　　(1) Promoción y fomento de estudios hidrogeológicos 　　(2) Cooperación con otras organizaciones científicas, técnicas o profesionales. 　　(3) Promoción de encuentros entre científicos, técnicos y gestores del agua con el objetivo de avanzar en el conocimiento de los problemas y en la búsqueda de soluciones a los problemas relacionados con el ciclo hídrico entendido en su conjunto y con el agua subterránea en particular. 　　(4) Edición y promoción de publicaciones científico-técnicas relacionadas con las aguas subterráneas 　　(5) Asesoramiento e información a medios oficiales y privados en todo lo referente al ámbito de la Hidrogeología y las aguas subterráneas

    • 　　The International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) is an international scientific and educational organization that aims to promote research and understanding of the proper management and protection of groundwater for the common good throughout the world. IAH provides a valuable forum for scientists and engineers working in the fields of hydrogeology and groundwater resource planning, management, and protection who have a broad interest in and an international perspective on groundwater resources and hydrogeological issues. 　　The main objectives of the USNC include: 　　Represent U.S. members of IAH in the activities of the parent organization and in other international hydrogeological activities. 　　Promote international activities which further the science and technology of hydrogeology and water resources. 　　Promote research, education, communication, and training in groundwater science. 　　Stimulate the interest of hydrogeologists in the U.S. in international hydrogeological activities and better acquaint hydrogeologists abroad with the concepts and techniques developed and applied in the U.S. 　　Coordinate interest and activities among hydrogeologists in the U.S. with IAH programs and activities.
