　　The International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) is an international scientific and educational organization that aims to promote research and understanding of the proper management and protection of groundwater for the common good throughout the world. IAH provides a valuable forum for scientists and engineers working in the fields of hydrogeology and groundwater resource planning, management, and protection who have a broad interest in and an international perspective on groundwater resources and hydrogeological issues. 　　The main objectives of the USNC include: 　　Represent U.S. members of IAH in the activities of the parent organization and in other international hydrogeological activities. 　　Promote international activities which further the science and technology of hydrogeology and water resources. 　　Promote research, education, communication, and training in groundwater science. 　　Stimulate the interest of hydrogeologists in the U.S. in international hydrogeological activities and better acquaint hydrogeologists abroad with the concepts and techniques developed and applied in the U.S. 　　Coordinate interest and activities among hydrogeologists in the U.S. with IAH programs and activities.
