European Federation of Food Science and Technology is a non-profit association, with 80 societies in 21 European countries affiliated to it. EFFoST has become a focus for European cooperation among food scientists, engineers, technologists and businesses in food and food-related areas.
The activities of EFFoST are co-ordinated by an Executive Committee and a General Assembly with members drawn from industry, academe and government. Members of the General Assembly are primarily delegates appointed by the national bodies adhering to EFFoST, providing democratic control of the EFFoST policy.
Its Secretariat executes and supports the decisions reached by the Executive Committee and General Assembly. The Secretariat is currently supported by and located at Agrotechnology and Food Innovations (A&F) in Wageningen, The Netherlands.
EFFoST has developed publications, and organises events on topical issues of industrial relevance, including new legislation and its enforcement.
EFFoST is the regional grouping of the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), an umbrella body providing contact to organisations and colleagues throughout the world.
