    Abstract

We evaluate the economic impact of the Wuhan coronavirus, a massive infectious and contagious disease, on China’s economic performance. To do so, we develop a new model, namely the Integral Massive Infections and Contagious Diseases Economic Simulator (IMICDE-Simulator) and apply it to the coronavirus outbreak. Our analysis based on the simulator indicates that the final impact will be substantial. The results indicate that the growth of the Chinese economy will decline from 6.2% in 2019 to 4.3% in 2020. Hence, the Chinese economy can lose easily a margin between 1.9% to 2% of its growth. The negative effect is significantly larger than that of SARS, and thus also likely to have larger spill-overs on other economies.

    • The Networks Infection Contagious Diseases Positioning System (NICDP-System): The Case of Wuhan-COVID-19 14 Pages Posted: 4 Mar 2020 Mario Arturo Ruiz Estrada University of Malaya (UM) - Faculty of Economics & Administration (FEA) Evangelos Koutronas West Virginia University - Department of Mathematics Date Written: March 4, 2020 Abstract This paper formulates an analytical framework to understand the spatiotemporal patterns of epidemic disease occurrence, its relevance and implications to economic activity, their impact on the vulnerability of different populations, and to develop public health policy decisions on disease prevention issues. The paper suggests a paradigm shift: a new multidimensional geometric approach to capture all symmetrical and asymmetrical strategic graphical movements in real space and time. The Networks Infection Contagious Diseases Positioning System (NICDP-System) extends the traditional two-dimensional graphical representation into a multidimensional graphical framework that synchronizes the optimal virus behavior in real-time. The model investigates the epidemic 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China.

    • How A Massive Contagious Infectious Diseases Can Affect Tourism, International Trade, Air Transportation, and Electricity Consumption? The Case of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China 14 Pages Posted: 20 Feb 2020 Mario Arturo Ruiz Estrada University of Malaya (UM) - Faculty of Economics & Administration (FEA) Donghyun Park Asian Development Bank - Economic Research Minsoo Lee Asian Development Bank Date Written: February 19, 2020 Abstract This paper is interested to evaluate the final impact of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) on four economic strategic sectors such as the tourism, air transportation, international trade, and electricity consumption of China into a multidimensional graph simultaneously. Hence, this research paper proposes the application of the economic crisis from a massive contagious infection diseases simulator (ECMCID-Simulator) respectively. In addition, the ECMCID-Simulator tries to show a macro-dynamic analysis with different possible scenarios to evaluate how a massive contagious infection disease can affect dramatically on the economic performance of any country in the short run. Finally, the ECMCID-Simulator was applied to the case of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China.
