Exercise and nutrition represent two important modifiable environmental factors that play an important role in the management and prevention of a range of health conditions, including obesity, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. The Exercise and Nutrition Physiology program of research focuses on understanding how exercise and nutrition alone and in combination improve skeletal and cardiovascular health at all stages of the lifespan. The goal of this research group is to provide the evidential basis for exercise prescription and development of functional foods. This will inform the policy and the implementation of public health strategies to manage and prevent a range of health-related disorders, including high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. The group consists of a multidisciplinary team of professionals who specialize in cardiovascular and bone health.
