IWMI is one of the the 16 research centres which come under the auspices of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).IWMI aims is to contribute to food security and poverty eradication by fostering sustainable increases in the productivity of water through better management of irrigation and other water uses in river basins. The Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) is a policy think tank that contributes to international efforts to combat the world's escalating water crisis. SIWI advocates future-oriented, knowledge-integrated water views in decision making, nationally and internationally, that lead to sustainable use of the world’s water resources and sustainable development of societies. SIWI has several main components.the Stockholm Water Symposium, the Stockholm Water Initiative, and the Swedish Water House.
