Today, the treatment of the HIV infection is focused on managing the disease over the long term. While early, aggressive HIV therapy with a combination of potent antiretrovirals may make sense virologically, it has raised other issues for patients living with the HIV infection.
Today's combination HIV treatments include potent therapies that may be more convenient to take, easier to tolerate, and readily combined with other antiretroviral drugs.
HIV therapies must be used in combination. These combinations do not cure HIV infection/AIDS and do not prevent passing HIV to others.
