The web site of the US National Estuary Program (NEP) offers a report on national coastal conditions, a directory of estuary programs, and links to comprehensive conservation and management plans for each estuary where available. The section on challenges offers and overview of problems facing estuaries and management strategies for nutrient overloading, pathogens, toxic chemicals, habitat degradation and loss, introduced species, alteration of natural flow regimes, and declines in fish and wildlife populations. A section on air pollution and water quality supplies an overview on air deposition of nitrogen and toxins. K-12 educational activities and lessons are available.
