  • Food Surveys Research Group—The 1994-96 Continuing Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals (CSFII), popularly called "What We Eat In America," included the collection of information on the kinds and amounts of foods eaten by Americans at home and away from home. The Mission is To monitor and assess food consumption and related behavior of the U.S. population by conducting surveys and providing the resulting information for food and nutrition-related programs and public policy decisions.Information on food eaten is collected in an in-person interview on 2 nonconsecutive days. Each day's information is collected using a 24-hour dietary recall. In 1994-96, data were collected from persons of all ages. In 1998, data were collected from children birth through age 9 years. Previous CSFII were conducted in 1989-91 and 1985-86.
