  • The listserves continue to provide national and international audiences with current summaries of new scientific and public information to effectively manage food safety-related risks, in the broadest sense. The listserves have become a tool-of-choice for producers, regulators, industry, academics and others based on survey results. The Food Safety Network (FSN) information centre is unique in Canada. Information centre staff answer questions from students, educators, consumers, producers, researchers, health professionals and others on a wide range of food safety issues. The FSN information centre has the capacity to respond to crises and emerging food safety concerns, and works collaboratively with many other organizations and individuals who provide information on food safety. Maintaining a strong research and teaching component, FSN has attained a significant number of academic achievements in 2003-2004. Initiatives have also focused on risk management programs for producers, food safety messaging for food service and for consumers, and educational resources for teachers and students. Despite financial challenges, FSN continues to work, in partnership with others, to enhance the safety of food, from farm-to-fork.
