The Society of Wetland Scientists is a non-profit organization founded in 1980 to promote wetland science and the exchange of information related to wetlands. The SWS awards program recognizes and rewards excellence in wetland science and service by its members as well as promoting membership in Society activities whenever possible. The main objectives of the Society are: 1. to advance public education and enlightenment concerning the Nation's wetland resources; 2. to develop and encourage wetland science; 3. to encourage the knowledgeable management of wetland resources.
