    SUMMARY

    Background

Globally, there have been many cases of COVID-2019 cases among medical staff, however, the main factors associated with the infection are not well understood.

    Aim

To identify the super-factors causing COVID-19 infection in medical staff in China.

    Methods

A cross-sectional study was conducted between Jan. 1st, and Feb. 30th, 2020, where front line members of medical staff that took part in the care and treatment of patients with COVID-19 were enrolled. Epidemiological and demographic data between infected and uninfected groups were collected and compared. Social network analysis (SNA) was used to establish socio-metric social links between influencing factors.

    • Integrated infection control strategy to minimize nosocomial infection of corona virus disease 2019 among ENT healthcare workers DanLuHaiyangWangRongYuHuiYangYuZhao Show more https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jhin.2020.02.018 Sir, Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). The most common symptoms are fever and dry cough; a minority of patients report other symptoms such as headache, sore throat and sneeze [1,2]. COVID-19 has rapidly spread from Wuhan, throughout China and into other countries. The virus-specific nucleic acid sequences have been detected in lung fluid, throat, oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swab samples [3]. Due to lack of sufficient awareness of the COVID-19 in the early stages of the epidemic, some healthcare workers (HCWs) have been infected [4,5].

However, research on their infection risk and clinical characteristics is limited. Objectives To explore infection risk and clinical characteristics of HCWs with COVID-19 and to discuss possible prevention measures. Design, Setting, and Participants This single-center case series included 9684 HCWs in Tongji Hospital, Wuhan, China. Data were collected from January 1 to February 9, 2020.
