The mission of our department is to provide outstanding Research, Undergraduate Programs, Graduate Programs, and Cooperative Extension Programs. Faculty, staff, and students in the Department are conducting innovative basic and applied research in nutritional aspects of the life sciences. These diverse research programs include clinical-translational nutrition and molecular studies.
We also deliver outstanding outreach education programs focused on osteoporosis and diabetes prevention, promotion of healthy weight and physical activity, nutrition guidelines for fitness promotion and enhancing sports performance, and food safety promotion through the Cooperative Extension system in counties throughout the state and through partnerships with several other colleges in the University, organizations and State Agencies.
