  • The Florida Center for Environmental Studies (CES) is a state university system research center established in July 1994 by the Regents of the State University System of Florida. The Center works in the broad field of the management of tropical and sub-tropical water dominated ecosystems and in related information technology worldwide. The Mission of the Center is to collect, analyze, and promote the use of scientifically sound information concerning tropical and subtropical freshwater ecosystems.

    • The Department's Water Resource Management Programs are responsible for protecting the quality of Florida’s drinking water as well as its rivers, lakes and wetlands, and for reclaiming lands after they’ve been mined for phosphate and other minerals. We establish the technical basis for setting the state’s surface water and ground water quality standards, and also implement a variety of programs to monitor the quality of those water resources.
