Humans are increasingly modifying the Global Water System, without adequate understanding how the system works. Water-related problems and trends are now global in scope and reverberate through the system. The Global Water System Project, which belongs to the Global Environmental Change Programmes, is dedicated to new interdisciplinary and global-scale research, to improve the knowledge of and responsible interaction with the Global Water System.
