To compare the clinical features and the heterogeneity of macrophages in different clinical phenotypes of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients with frequent or infrequent exacerbations. Methods: Clinical characteristics of eighty COPD patients with chronic bronchitis (CB), emphysema (EM) or asthma-COPD overlap (ACO) phenotypes suffered from acute exacerbation were analyzed. The expressions of CCL3 and CD163 in sputum macrophages were detected by flow cytometry. The expressions of HIF-1α and Cav-1 in sputum macrophages were detected by quantitative PCR (qPCR). Central venous catheter (CVC) placement is an operation which can establish a fast, safe, and effective deep venous access to rescue patients under critical conditions, especially for those receiving hemodialysis. It is a simple operation with almost no complications, but different complications have been still reported, such as bleeding, infection, embolism, low blood flow, and cardiac arrhythmias. In this case, the patient with preexisting left bundle branch block suffered right bundle branch block, leading to complete heart block during CVC placement. When the patient developed complete heart block, we immediately treated him with isoproterenol, and the surgery was terminated as soon as possible. The patient gradually recovered the sinus rhythm after the treatment. This complication is rare but severe, and clinicians should recognize the risks and take strategies as early as possible. To understand the development of medical social work in China, and provide reference and basis for promoting medical social work in the next stage. Methods: A random sampling method was used to survey and analyze the data from questionnaires distributed to hospitals at or above the second level in China. Results: Medical social work had been carried out in all parts of the country, but the development was not balanced with the establishment of specialized agencies accounting for about 7.9% of the total survey. Only 17.5% of the hospitals carried out medical social work as a routine work. The medical social work service mainly included volunteer operation and management, patient psychological counseling, and so on. Conclusion: The development of medical social work in hospitals in China is still in its infancy, and the regional development is not balanced. To explore the effect of application of soft tissue loosening and acetabular reconstruction in hip replacement for patients with severe femoral head necrosis on joint function. Methods: From June 2012 to August 2016, 68 patients with severe femoral head necrosis (Ficat III, IV) underwent total hip replacement with soft tissue release and acetabular reconstruction at the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University. Total hip replacement is performed by the posterolateral approach. The acetabulum was rebuilt and the length of the affected limb was prolonged after clearing the scar tissue, proliferating the epiphysis, releasing the abductor muscle group and the adductor muscle group, dissecting the soft tissue around the acetabulum. One year after surgery, Harris score, X-ray positive lateral radiograph for the affected side and full-length X-ray examination for both lower extremities were performed to evaluate the curative effect. Results: The postoperative follow-up time ranged from 1.0 to 5.5 years.
To evaluate the white-matter integrity and its correlation with cognitive function in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) complicated with lacunar infarctions (LI) by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of magnetic resonance (MR). Methods: Twenty-six patients with MCI were selected including 14 patients with combined LI and 12 patients without combined LI, and 16 healthy volunteers were recruited as normal control. All subjects completed cognitive function assessment and DTI sequence of MR. To investigate the expression, clinical significance, and biological function of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) ADAMTS9-AS2 in colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods: Gene microarray analysis was performed to explore the expression of ADAMTS9-AS2 in CRC. Real-time PCR was used to verify its expression in 20-paired CRC tissues and adjacent non-tumor tissues. We further explored the relationship between ADAMTS9-AS2 expression and clinicopathological features, and its prognostic role in relapse-free survival (RFS) among early stage CRC patients using Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses. To investigate the role of metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) in laterocapcular division of the central nucleus of amygdala (CeLC) in fentanyl-induced hyperalgesia in rats. Methods: A total of 12 Sprague-Dawley male rats (60-100 g) were randomly divided into a normal group 1 (n=6) and an opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OIH) group 1 (n=6). The OIH group 1 was injected with fentanyl through the lower neck skin to build OIH model, and the normal group 1 was given the same volume of saline. To investigate the effects of chemerin on helper T cells 9 (Th9)/regulatory T cells (Treg) in patients with psoriasis and the potential molecular mechanisms. Methods: Twenty-five patients with psoriasis and twenty healthy volunteers were selected for this study. CD4+ T cells were isolated from peripheral blood of samples by magnetic bead separation. The levels of chemerin and its receptor chemR23 were detected by real-time RT-PCR and ELISA. CD4+ T cells isolated from the healthy volunteers were treated with different concentrations of chemerin (50, 100, 150, 200 ng/mL), then cell viability was detected by MTT assay. Methods: Mouse chondrocyte ATDC5 cells were divided into a control group, a mechanical stress group, a Cx43 siRNA transfection group, a scramble siRNA transfection group, a mechanical stress+scramble group, and a mechanical stress+siCx43 group. To investigate the incidence of postoperative abnormal liver function test (aLFT) for the children with heart surgery, and to analyze the clinical characteristics and risk factors. Methods: A total of 143 children younger than 18 years old who underwent heart surgery in 2017 were enrolled in this study. The liver function were examined one day preoperation and consecutive 5 days after operation. The clinical data of perioperative period were recorded and the risk factors for aLFT were analyzed. Results: There were 43/143 (30%) cases had aLFT, including 5/143 (3.5%) acute liver injury (ALI). To investigate the effects of Cordyceps sinensis (CS) on cellular apoptosis and Sirt1 expression in HK2 cells followed by ischemia-reperfusion (I/R). Methods: HK2 cells were incubated with different concentrations of CS (10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320 mg/L) for 24 hours, and the optimal concentration of CS was selected by measuring cell proliferation. The confluent HK2 cells were incubated with 0.01 μmol/L antimycin A for 2 hours to induce ischemia in vitro, and then the reperfusion was achieved by incubating cells with glucose-replete complete growth medium for 24 hours. HK2 cells were divided into 4 groups: a control group, an I/R group, an I/R+CS (160 mg/L) group, and an I/R+CS (160 mg/L)+Sirtinol (25 μmol/L) group.
