Natural Gas Geosciences is a synthetic and academic publication superintended by Chinese Academy of Sciences and sponsored by National Science Library of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou Branch, it aims at commenting on the research progress in Natural Gas Geosciences, reporting new theories, new technologies, new methods by different countries in the world in exploring conventional natural gas of the earth's crust, expediting the development of the discipline of natural gas geology in our country, and promoting the exploration and development of natural gas fields in our country.

Natural Gas Geosciences started publication in 1990, at present, mainly publishes articles on natural gas geology, natural gas geochemistry, natural gas physical geography exploration as well as case analysis and research on typical gas fields both at home and abroad, at the same time, reports new theories, new technologies, new methods on the research and exploration of natural gas both at home and abroad, research papers on unconventional gas resources (for instance, natural gas hydrate, coal-bed gas, deep basin gas, immature-low-mature hydrocarbon, and so on) account for a certain proportion. Natural Gas Geosciences is issued publicly both at home and abroad, the majority of readers is scientific and research workers and engineers and technicians engaging in oil and gas fields, teachers and students at universities and polytechnics, other relevant managing and decision-making personnel.
