General Information

NSLC integrates the walk-in services with web-based service to meet various needs of the users. The library is open to the users 365 days a year, and 12 hours a day. An integrated service environment of searching, reading, loan, and collecting attracts about 220,000 users a year. One hour training, preserved group training, on-site training at institutes, and new graduate training are under way. At the same time, various and integrated services through NSLC web site become more and more popular. In 2003, the web site numbers 2,600,000 clicks.

NSLC began the program of graduate education since 1979. As one of the four doctor degree granting institutes in LIS in China, LCAS undertakes the important task of educating high level professionals based on CAS and oriented to the country, and the task of carrying out library science and information science research at the national level. Graduate program in LCAS is the representative of CAS in academic research and professional training in the country.

There are 10 Ph.D advisors, 24 MLIS advisors. Norm regulations on teaching and training for advisors have been formed. 74 gradate students for Ph.D and Master degrees are in school. Graduate student courses have been offered for those librarians on the job.

NSLC started to accept visiting scholar from other libraries to fully use the potential of NSLC and its expert team.
