Postgraduate Degree Education

National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences is a national institution of science and technology information, which supports the national S&T independent innovation; provides services for national innovation system; facilitates the dissemination of science and culture. National Science Library is an institution with multi-functions: S&T information service, information research and academic degree education of library and information science. In March, 2006 National Science Library was founded based on four documentation and information institutions of CAS, which were: Library of CAS, Science Information Center for Resource and Environment, Wuhan Library of CAS and Chengdu Library of CAS. National Science Library has built Chinese Science Digital Library, which has embedded in the research environment of CAS.

National Science Library has academic degree-granting program for both Library Science and Informatics, and the program are both for Master and Doctor. Responsible Supervisors are of excellent practices and experience of both research and instruction. The attractive characteristic of National Science Library¡¯s postgraduate education is the tight combination of theory and practice. The Length of Schooling for Master Degree is 2.5 years, and for Doctor Degree is 3 years. National Science library has rich literature collections of library and information science, the amount of subscribed foreign prints and e-document is ranked top 1 in China. National Science Library provides assistant posts for postgraduates, giving opportunities for students to research and practice. Many scholarships are also provided as awards for hard work and excellence research.

The application time is in accordance with the time set by GUCAS (Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences), and the application season is autumn.
